Art holiday in St Ives

Getting away from the daily routine is always refreshing and we were so lucky to have a wonderful holiday in St Ives this year. After dropping our son off at Exeter University in late September we decided to continue our journey south to Cornwall.

I didn’t plan an art holiday even though St Ives is such an amazing centre for art with the Tate , numerous galleries and a history of British painters living and working here I knew that there would be lots of arty moments. It was my husband Phil would secretly planned the art holiday as he booked a wonderful surprise for me with a 3 day painting course at the St Ives School of Painting.

Alice Mumford: Clarian Calls and Lullabies

Alice’s course was fantastic and a dream come true. I have taken a few online course at St Ives School of painting with Alice but always dreamed of being in the iconic studios and it didn’t disappoint!

These beautiful still life set ups were so inspiring to paint from, they had a wonderful Autumnal feel.. Referencing the ideas and work of Winifred Nicholson was a real treat, and watching Alice paint was mesmerizing.

Three wonderful days of painting!
