Lemons are the only fruit?

Lemons are the only fruit? It has been said that I have a passion for painting lemons, they appear regularly in my paintings and you can always find a bowl of them in my studio. When I look back they have appeared in my work throughout the years.

My absolute favourite lemon is the one which can be found at ‘Kettle Yard’ in Cambridge the home of Jim and Helen Ede. As a student in Cambridge studying for my PGCE in Art Education my fellow students and I would often visit this beautiful house at Kettles Yard. As you go in through the small door in the covered alley you enter a world devoted to Art. In the dining room the first room you enter is a bowl with a single fresh lemon in a pewter dish, and on the wall is a painting by Miro, ‘TIc Tic’ which has a single yellow dot, the effect is amazing!

Recently I have been painting single lemons on 15cm square boards. These will be part of my new collection for South East Open Studio.
