Snowdrops and Hellebores
I painted Snowdrops and Hellebores in January with the first signs of spring emerging in my garden. I particularly love the soft carpet of snowdrops and jewel colours of hellebores on a frosty morning. It is painted on board and measures 60cm x 50cm unframed.
I wanted to create a calm stillness with a soft muted palette using thick oil paint with chalk to create texture. I particularly enjoyed painting the blue and white teapot and contrasting this with the translucency of the green glass jar. The teapot in this painting is a favourite of mine and it makes a fantastic cup of tea!
