White Vase and Gladiolus

‘White Vase and Gladiolus’ has a soft light feeling, white table cloth and chairs with white and blue crockery and a violet and orange floral background. I set this still life up in the studio after picking these gorgeous orange Gladiolus from the garden. I loved the tall elegant stems and how they float across the painting linking each of the parts of the painting. I must have been in a Matisse mood as the pattern in the background has a definite Matisse feel.
This painting won an award at the Under The Rainbow exhibition 2022 at Bluewater for ‘Best oil’.
It is painted on board and measures 60cm x 50cm unframed.
